GULF COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - UPDATE:On Friday, officers with the Port St. Joe Police Department, along with a Deputy from the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office, were involved in an officer-involved shooting.According to the Port St. Joe Police Department, officers and deputies with the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call around 6 p.m.Port St. Joe Police said 2 officers discharged their service weapons during an encounter with the armed suspect. The deputy who responded did not discharge his firearm, according to police.We are told that the suspect was given medical assistance and taken to Ascension Sacred Heart Ba, and is in stable condition." There will be rumors, there will be statements made by people, I just caution everybody to wait for some finality with the investigation, and the information that we put out," Port St. Joe Police Chief Jake Richards said in a statement. “Don’t listen to the street talk.”The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is currently investigating the scene, and the state attorney has also been notified.
