The Milwaukee Police Department released edited body camera video of two police shootings following Cinco de Mayo crowd chaos near Cesar Chavez Drive and Scott Street.

Milwaukee police said the two scenes occurred within seconds of each other and within earshot of one another.

The first happened in a nearby alley. MPD said an officer heard gunfire and ran toward an armed man. Video shows the man run away and ignore their commands. Police said officers fired one shot, hitting the man in the abdomen. He survived.

"The district attorney's office chose not to issue charges since there was evidence of the shots being fired in self-defense," Asst. Chief Nicole Waldner explained in the community briefing video released Friday.

As that scene unfolded, MPD outlined a second shooting involving a 17-year-old boy. They said someone else nearby in a red hoodie could be seen and heard shooting a machine gun into the air. Body camera video shows another officer shooting at him multiple times.

Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office charged 17-year-old Deon Nabors with four felonies, including possession of a machine gun.

MPD said the district attorney is still reviewing both cases, which means the officers involved remain on administrative duty.
