Three people were killed and five others were injured after at least one gunman opened fire near an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday, according to reports.

Twin Falls city spokesperson Josh Palmer confirmed the death toll to NBC News after dramatic cellphone footage captured a gunman opening fire near the fast-food restaurant, sending shoppers running for their lives.

Palmer later told CBS News the shooting began inside the In-N-Out restaurant before spilling into the surrounding area.

Preliminary local reporting indicated police were searching for “at least one to two shooters” in the aftermath of the attack, though authorities had not publicly confirmed how many suspects were involved.

The search focused on a hotel under construction near the scene, as well as a hotel overlooking the Twin Falls Visitor Center, according to local reports. Rock Creek Fire Chief Aaron Zent earlier told KMVT that officers were searching the hotel overlooking the visitor center.

KMVT said it was aware of photos and videos of an alleged suspect circulating on social media but was withholding the material pending confirmation from law enforcement.

Palmer told CBS News the gunman was “no longer considered a threat,” but declined to say whether the suspect had been taken into custody or whether authorities believed there was only one shooter.

It was not immediately clear whether the shooter was among the three people killed.
