An attorney for country music star Chris Young is demanding an apology for his client after video evidence of the altercation leading to his arrest was released.

The “I’m Comin’ Over” singer, 38, was arrested Monday night and charged with disorderly conduct, assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.

Young’s arrest followed an altercation with Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents at a bar in Nashville.

Video released of the incident shows Young stick his arm out to an ABC agent, who then shoves Young into a chair, and he falls to the ground.

Young can be seen standing back up and putting his hands in the air. He then backs away as officers continue to follow him.

“What happened to my client Chris Young at a bar in Nashville on Monday night was wrong and he never should have been arrested and charged in the first place,” said Bill Ramsey, Young’s attorney. “In light of the video evidence, Tennessee ABC needs to drop the charges and apologize for the physical, emotional and professional harm done towards my client.”

According to an arrest affidavit, it all started when agents with the Alcoholic Beverage Commission were completing a compliance check at about 8:30 p.m. at Tin Roof on Demonbreun Street when they found Young sitting at a bar.

After checking his identification, Young allegedly followed the agents and began asking them questions and recording them.

The agents said they completed their identification checks at Tin Roof and continued next door to the Dawg House. The affidavit says Young and his group of friends followed the agents at Dawg House and began talking to the patrons and the bartender.

That’s when surveillance video shows Young put his hand out to one of the agents as they were leaving.

Police described the incident differently, saying Young “stuck” one of the agents on the shoulder.

The video then shows the agent pushing Young into the chair, knocking him to the ground.

According to the affidavit, the atmosphere in the bar turned hostile, and it took two agents to physically detain Young, whose eyes were “bloodshot and watery and spoke with a slurred speech.” However, the video does not show this.

Young has since been released from custody.
