A shocking incident occurred this Friday, May 30, on Metro Line 1-Blue in downtown São Paulo, Brazil, where a man set himself on fire in the middle of the street. The incident was recorded.

Gazeta de Brasil reported that the man was a 74-year-old man, who was walking slowly as the flames engulfed his body and reached the station roof.

The Brazilian media outlet highlighted the swift intervention of security officers, who used fire extinguishers to contain the fire and rescue the man.

The victim, who was still conscious at the time of rescue, was taken to São Paulo Hospital. His condition has not yet been disclosed.

The case was registered as self-harm by the Metropolitan Police Station (Delpom), which requested an on-site forensic analysis. Meanwhile, the Department of Public Security indicated that details of the incident would remain confidential, according to Gazeta de Brasil.
