A 46-year-old woman named Cassiane died after ingesting caustic soda. She was allegedly forced to drink the product by her ex-husband, Rodrigo, during an argument motivated by jealousy.

After ingesting the liquid, Cassiane was admitted to a hospital, but did not survive. Rodrigo sent a video of Cassiane agonizing to her eldest daughter and her sibling, saying she had committed suicide. Doctors noted a lack of damage to her mouth, suggesting she had been forced to ingest the caustic soda.

Rodrigo then left the property, and has not been located. The police do not presently consider him a fugitive.

The couple had been together for a year, but they broke up due to violence on Rodrigo's part. Witnesses reported that they heard screams and calls for help from Cassiane's apartment, with Rodrigo reportedly being seen entering the property with a bottle.

Cassiane had sent audio messages to family members days before the incident, stating that Rodrigo was threatening to kill her.
