Tributes are flooding in for Abol (Hamid) Korkor, an Iranian protester who took his own life on Saturday during a live Instagram broadcast as security forces raided his hideout in the southwestern city of Izeh.

According to activists and former political prisoner Foad Choobin, Korkor had been in hiding for over two years. When security forces surrounded his location and opened fire continuously, he livestreamed the raid on Instagram.

He became the latest in a series of protesters who have died by suicide under intense pressure from Iranian security forces, which has intensified since the Women, Life, Freedom uprising in 2022.

Amid a hail of bullets, Korkor was heard repeatedly shouting, "We surrender," but security forces continued shooting.

In his final moments, Korkor said, "I have no choice. Goodbye, Iran," before taking his own life, as seen in the video.
