BITUNG — The mystery of the disappearance of a young woman in Bitung City is finally revealed. Novita Sapotong (31), which was reported to have been missing since the beginning of 2026, was found dead on Jalan Atas Toa'ang, Bitung City, North Sulawesi, on Wednesday (7/1/2026).

The discovery of the victim's body stems from the suspicion of local residents who smell bad smell at the location. After being traced, residents found a woman's body in a lifeless condition and immediately reported it to the local police.

Based on the information gathered, Novita is known to last be seen leaving the house on Thursday (1/1/2026) riding a silver Honda Beat motorcycle numbered police DB 3178 VA. Since then, the victim has no longer been able to be contacted so that the family reported his loss.

Before being declared missing, the victim had time to make a video call (video call) with one of his relatives. In the short communication, Novita admitted to having an accident, but did not mention the location of the incident or the detailed condition experienced. After the call, communication with the victim was cut off.

Police officers who received the discovery of the body immediately went to the scene to do the crime scene (CRIME SCENE) and evacuate the body of the victim. The body was then taken to the hospital for further identification and examination purposes.

Until now, the police are still conducting investigations to uncover the exact cause of Novita Sawotong's death. The police have not provided official information related to the existence of elements of violence, alleged accidents, or other possible factors that cause the victim to die. The case is still under the handling of the authorities.
