In January 2025, the mausoleum of a seven-year-old, who was the grandson of long-time Sinaloa Cartel leader Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, was attacked, allegedly by members of 'Los Chapitos' - a primary faction of the Sinaloa Cartel which has been engaged in a conflict with fellow faction, La Mayiza. They stole toys from the mausoleum, and allegedly tried to take the body. Four urns were also taken.

Now, a video circulating on social media apparently shows one of the 'Los Chapitos' members involved in the desecration being interrogated and burned alive as revenge.
