One student died and three others were injured after a shooting attack inside the Sapopemba State School , in the East Zone of São Paulo , on Monday morning (23). The information was confirmed by the São Paulo government .

According to the Public Security Secretariat, a 16-year-old teenager, also a student, entered the school with a gun and fired shots. He was seized along with the weapon and taken to the Cara da Infância e Juventude. Until the last update of this report, the police had not disclosed the motivation for the attack.

"All circumstances relating to the facts are investigated by the 69th DP (Teotônio Vilela), which carries out investigations and the hearing of witnesses. The murder weapon, in good condition, was seized and sent to the Institute of Criminalistics. After legal examinations at the IML , the victim's body was released to family members."

In total, three students were hit by gunfire. The victim who did not survive his injuries had been shot in the head. Two others were injured in the chest and collarbone. A fourth student was injured when trying to escape during the attack, according to a statement released by the state government.

The injured were taken to the emergency room at Sapopemba General Hospital. No details about their health status were released.

Still in a note, the state management regretted what happened and said that the priority is to provide assistance to the victims' families.

"The government of SP deeply regrets and sympathizes with the families of the victims of the attack that occurred on the morning of this Monday (23) at the Sapopemba State School. At this moment, the priority is to provide assistance to the victims and psychological support to students, professionals from education and family."
