Serdar Varol, who shot Özgür Ölçek in the middle of the street in the Bayramiç district of Çanakkale and then killed him by hitting him repeatedly in the head with the butt of the gun, was arrested by the court he was brought before.

According to the allegations, Serdar Varol opened fire with a gun at Özgür Ölçek, who was walking on the street while talking on his cell phone on Vatan Street in the Camicedit Neighborhood yesterday evening. Varol, who ran out of bullets, hit Ölçek, who was lying on the ground, in the head with the butt of the gun repeatedly.

Police and medical teams were dispatched to the address upon the notification of the people around. After the first intervention of the medical teams, Ölçek was taken to a nearby hospital and could not be saved despite the interventions of the doctors. Varol was taken into custody by the police teams. The moment of the incident was captured on a security camera of a workplace.

Serdar Varol, who was sent to the courthouse today after the procedures at the police station, was arrested by the court he was brought before.

It was learned that Serdar Varol said in his statement that he killed Özgür Ölçek, who worked in a cheese dairy, because he thought he was having an affair with his wife, whom he divorced 10 days ago due to severe disagreements.

On the other hand, Özgür Ölçek's body was buried in the district cemetery today.
