SAN FERNANDO. On the night of Monday, October 19, a tragic traffic accident at the signalized intersection near the "Parque de Ferias" (Fairgrounds) in San Fernando, Apure State, claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman and left the local community in shock.

The victim has been identified as Yohandry Jiménez, a resident of the El Recreo parish who was studying Early Childhood Education at the "Aldea Tamanaco" (part of the Misión Sucre program).

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred shortly after 9:00 p.m. when a truck loaded with fruit allegedly struck a group of people from behind—including a couple on a motorcycle—who were waiting for the traffic light to change.

Jiménez sustained severe injuries in the collision. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, provided first aid, and immediately transported her to the emergency room at the Dr. Pablo Acosta Ortiz Hospital. Despite medical efforts, she passed away shortly after arrival due to the severity of her injuries.

Competent authorities have launched an investigation to determine responsibility for the incident, while family members and fellow students mourn the unexpected loss of the young woman.
