A 20-year-old man is behind bars after he allegedly used a semi-automatic weapon to rob two businesses last Saturday, then attempted a dangerous escape from police -- winding through Southfield streets at over 100 miles per hour.

According to Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren, the suspect -- Jamee Fahim Cole of Southfield -- entered a local Dunkin Donuts on December 4, and made a purchase with $20 he stole from another business.

When the clerk opened the cash register, Cole is said to have pulled out a gun and demanded the $750 inside.

Cole then fled in a stolen vehicle with Southfield Police in pursuit and Michigan State Police providing air support. Video footage shows that Cole eventually crashed and was arrested.

"By way of our Michigan State Police, we were able to apprehend this violent suspect, who as you know, was driving at excessive amounts of speed, said Chief Barren. "We couldn't keep up, out of safety for the officer and for the community."
