City Police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a man at Thangal Bazar on September 7.The accused have been identified as Yendrembam Paona Singh, 60, and Laishram Ngongo Meitei, 39, both residents of Kanglasiphai Makha Leikai.According to police, the victim, a resident of Borojalenga village in Silchar, Assam, who was currently staying at Thangal Bazar, was allegedly murdered by slashing his neck with a machete.Police said the investigation revealed that Paona Singh allegedly confessed to the crime, citing revenge following a fallout with the victim over illicit dealings involving contraband ganja. He allegedly travelled to Thangal Bazar with the co-accused with the intention of killing the victim.Police have seized the blood-stained clothes allegedly worn by the accused during the incident and recovered the two-wheeler used to reach the crime scene. Efforts are underway to recover the weapon allegedly used in the murder.Further investigation is in progress.
