KERN COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) — Kern County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a reported peace disturbance in Rosamond last Thursday shot a man they say confronted them while armed with a sword.

Deputies responded to the call about 5:30 p.m. to Desert Oasis Mobile Estates in the 3300 block of 15th St. West.

Shortly after they arrived, a deputy was confronted by the suspect, identified as Joshua Dribin, who came at the armed deputy.

Dribin would not obey orders to stop and continued to yell, "shoot" and "kill me," resulting in a deputy-involved shooting.

Dribin was treated for his injuries by deputies at the scene and taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries

He was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer; resisting a peace officer using force; exhibiting a deadly weapon at a peace officer to resist arrest; and resisting, obstructing, delaying a peace officer in the performance of their duties.

No deputies or additional civilians were injured in the shooting, the sheriff’s office said.
