At about 7:30 p.m., Phoenix police received an emergency call from a woman saying her adult son just left the house on foot with several weapons, and she heard a shot as he left.

Several officers were sent to the area. Dispatchers advised officers that the man’s father was following him in a vehicle and that he still had guns with him.

Officers located the man in the area of 25th Ave. and Greenway Rd. and gave him commands to stop which he ignored. The man continued to walk towards an occupied convenience store.

Prior to the suspect entering the convenience store, the officer transitioned from the pepper ball launcher to his sidearm, and the officer involved shooting occurred.

Investigators on scene obtained video surveillance from the external and internal surveillance cameras of the convenience store.

The suspect was found inside of the business suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The man found to have several firearms, multiple extended magazines, and other weapons on him when he entered the convenience store.

He has since been released from the hospital and booked into jail on weapons charges.

The officers involved in this incident have between 4 to 5 years of service and are assigned to the Cactus Park Precinct.
