Man, identified as A.C.T.P., doused himself with a flammable liquid and set himself on fire in front of Istanbul's iconic Galata Tower. Witnesses initially mistook the act for a performance due to the dramatic setting, but chaos ensued as flames engulfed him. Nearby cafe staff extinguished the fire using a fire extinguisher, and the man was transported to the hospital with severe burns.

Local authorities confirmed that he had been seen earlier in the area carrying a sickle and gasoline. The motives behind the act remain unclear, and an investigation is ongoing​
