A former military police officer was killed on Monday morning (7) after going out for a walk with his dogs on Rua Formosa, in Jardim Guanabara, Ilha do Governador.

Video obtained by G1 shows a car stopping in front of former police officer André da Silva Aleixo and shooting at him.

G1 found out that Aleixo was currently known as a sort of manager of crime on Ilha do Governador and in São Gonçalo, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio.

Wearing hoods, the criminals got into the car and fled. When they noticed a woman screaming in the middle of the street, the car reversed to shoot Aleixo again.

The woman stops in front of one of the men and stops him from shooting the ex-policeman again, but the hooded man who was behind the wheel gets out of the vehicle and shoots André Aleixo.

The former police officer had just opened the gate to leave the house when the hooded men started shooting at the victim.

Police officers from the 17th Battalion (Ilha do Governador) were called to the scene and found the former police officer dead on the street. The area was cordoned off and forensics were called in.

In a statement, the Civil Police reported that the Capital Homicide Division (DHC) is investigating the case and is trying to find information that will lead to the perpetrators of the crime.

In 2020, Aleixo was detained by the Military Police Internal Affairs Unit in Niterói, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio, with six other suspects, also PMs.

At the time, the police found a .9mm Glock pistol, two backpacks with R$257,000 in cash, notebooks with notes and a control of the collection of gambling machines in André's car. The Internal Affairs Department also found a police badge, a ninja cap and a pair of black gloves.
