A 51-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in the head early Friday morning at the entrance to a business in downtown Concepción, in the Bío Bío region.

The incident occurred on Avenida Los Carrera and Calle Rengo, at the entrance to the Hermanos Carrera market . Inside is his family business, where the 51-year-old victim was approached and shot in the head at 5:30 in the morning.

The body was left in the street for more than an hour, lying next to his truck, a situation that was recorded by security cameras , which makes his family think that it was not a robbery and that it was a contract killing .

Ericka, sister of the victim Mauricio Guzmán, in conversation with La Radio ruled out that it was a robbery.

“ They weren't going to rob my brother at any point, because the truck was moving. If the guy wanted to steal, he would have stolen the truck or stolen his wallets because my brother always carries money… He killed him and drove off. They sent someone to kill my brother, ” he said.

The prosecutor on duty instructed the proceedings to the Homicide Brigade of the Investigative Police , where Subprefect Mauro Gutiérrez, detailed that the victim remains hospitalized in serious condition at the Regional Hospital of Concepción.

Presidential delegate Daniela Dresdner also called for speedy investigations to clarify the facts.
