Two individuals were arrested by the MTA Police following a series of events that began with an investigation into a larceny pattern at the Apple Store located in Grand Central Terminal. The incident unfolded on Wednesday on East 44th Street and Madison Avenue.

According to the MTA Police, a manager at the Apple Store identified an individual suspected of being involved in three recent thefts. MTA officers followed the suspect after he left the store and entered a vehicle parked in a restricted zone. The situation escalated when the vehicle’s driver started the engine and began smoking controlled substances, prompting police intervention.

When approached by the officers, the driver refused to provide his license and registration. Upon exiting the vehicle, the officers noticed an axe in the door pocket. The situation further escalated when the driver physically assaulted an MTA sergeant and attempted to choke him. Additional officers arrived at the scene as one occupant fled the vehicle with a bag.

Both the driver and the initial larceny suspect were apprehended and arrested. The driver, residing within the jurisdiction of NYPD’s 67th Precinct, faces multiple charges including assault on a police officer. The MTA police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
