Lorena Viano Chaves, 34, was killed by her partner, Cruzado Crispin, 35, during an argument fueled by jealousy. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, the 14th, in the district of Saia Pulo, Gran Chimú province, in the La Libertad region.

According to the investigation, the man detonated a stick of dynamite against the woman during the altercation. The explosion was so violent that Lorena and the baby died instantly; her body was left unrecognizable. Cruzado Crispin was also critically injured—losing both arms in the blast—and was taken to the Trujillo Regional Teaching

Hospital, where he remains in police custody. The suspect, who worked in illegal mining, has not yet given a statement.

The case is being investigated as a femicide, an event that has caused a stir in the region. The victim had previously reported her partner for abuse.
