Rochester, N.Y. — A man's hand was cut off in an incident Sunday on the city's north side, according to the Rochester Police Department.Police said officers responded to the area of Clifford and Joseph avenues around 8:20 p.m. Sunday for a report of a possible stabbing and found a 42-year-old man suffering from an "apparent laceration."Captain Greg Bello later elaborated, saying officers "arrived to bystanders comforting and performing medical aid to the victim, who sustained a laceration severe enough that it severed his hand from his body."Bello said officers immediately applied a tourniquet. The victim was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and rushed into surgery. His injuries were no longer considered life-threatening.
