Two gangs of around a hundred people fought at the final waste disposal site in Mar del Plata . The incident left one dead, at least two wounded by gunshots , and there is suspicion that the fatal shot was fired by one of the police officers guarding the site.

According to La Capital , in the midst of the battle, one of the groups managed to snatch the service weapons from two of the four police officers who usually work at the site. Immediately after, Emanuel Márquez, one of the recyclers who was near the police station during the fight, fell dead from a shot to the head. The victim is a 23-year-old man who arrived dead at the Interzonal General Acute Hospital (Higa) after being transported in a dying state in a van.

In a video of the incident, several of the officers can be seen reacting to the attacks by firing shots at the group that was attacking them. That is why the hypothesis that the young man died during that sequence gained strength. “It is a very painful moment, we did not expect it. He went to work to bring a plate of food to his family,” commented Melany, the victim's partner, to a local TV channel.
