The Yolo County SWAT Team shot and killed a person while serving an arrest warrant in Dunnigan on Tuesday, the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office said.The SWAT team is made up of officers from the West Sacramento Police Department, the Woodland Police Department and the Yolo County Sheriff's Office.Lt. Dan Beckwith with the Davis Police Department said that the SWAT team was serving a felony arrest warrant to a man for alleged sex crimes against a child. When SWAT officers arrived at a residence on County Road 88C around 8:00 a.m., they found the man inside of a trailer they believe he lived in, but the man was unresponsive to officers."For several hours after [the SWAT team's] arrival, they made continues announcements and attempts to get the subject to come outside and surrender," Lt. Beckwith said.Then, just after 12:30 p.m., investigators said the SWAT team shot and killed the man.The West Sacramento Police Department on Wednesday provided an update that it was a single officer who fired two shots, killing the man. The officer has been with the police department for more than seven years.According to the police department, which is now leading the shooting investigation, the man was armed with a kitchen knife that was about 12 inches long, including the blade and handle.Body-worn camera footage will be released in the coming weeks, the police department said. It still remains unknown what exactly led up to the shooting.No officers were injured, the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office said.
