Noble Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - - On December 18, 2018, Noble Police Sergeant Joshua Lesher was involved in the shooting of 37 year old Layland Ted Lewis, Jr. The incident occurred during a traffic stop of Lewis at the 400 block of North 2nd Street in Noble. Initially, Lewis gave a false name, but the investigation revealed Lewis was wanted in Cleveland County for Armed Robbery. As Lesher attempted to properly identify Lewis, Lewis pulled a handgun from his jacket and pointed it at Lesher's face. Lesher deflected Lewis' handgun, drew his own firearm and fired, hitting Lewis three times. Lewis was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released into the custody of the Cleveland County Sheriff for the Armed Robbery charge. The OSBI was asked to conduct the investigation into the shooting. Upon completion of the investigation, Lewis was charged in Cleveland County District Court with Assault & Battery-Felonious With a Dangerous Weapon against Lesher. On Janua ry 17, 2 019, Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn cleared Lesher of any criminal wrong-doing in shooting Lewis
