A man was arrested after fatally shooting another man Thursday night in the parking lot of an Applebee's in Riverbank, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 9:45 p.m. at the Applebee's on Claribel Road. Officials said the restaurant was full of customers having recently attended nearby graduations.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Jonathan Alexander Ray, drove away from the scene but was stopped soon afterward and taken into custody.

The victim, 40-year-old Salvador Ramos, was shot multiple times and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died, the sheriff's office said.

Investigators said they are still looking into what led up to the dispute that began in the bar area of the restaurant.
