winnett Police's SWAT team was finally able to arrest a barricaded gunman after more than 18 hours Monday, according to authorities.

Law enforcement was seen surrounding the area around Gwinnett Pointe Apartments near Norcross before 12:30 p.m. They said the incident started at around 6 a.m. on Dunleaf Arc Way with an unknown caller requesting assistance but providing no further information.

When police initially knocked on the door of the residence, they said they heard no answer but shortly after, they received another call with the same person simply asking for police.

Officers added that as they investigated the situation, they learned a man with a weapon was inside the home. That's when Gwinnett Police's SWAT team was called to the scene.

"When they first came they were running with their guns behind the building," a resident told 11Alive.
