A woman exhibiting erratic behavior and armed with a knife died after being shot by a military police officer on Thursday afternoon (15), in Pirituba, in the North Zone of São Paulo . The incident was recorded around 2:45 pm, on Rua Coronel José Rufino Freire.

According to TV Globo , residents contacted the Military Police after reporting that the woman was in the area, apparently having a psychotic episode, and threatening people.

This case adds to two recent incidents in which military police officers fired 69 shots in one week at two other men experiencing a psychotic episode

On Thursday, three police officers tried to negotiate with the woman to get her to drop the knife. A security camera recorded the moment she was walking down the street holding a knife and advancing towards the officers. Subsequently, one of the officers shot her between the chest and neck area. She fell to the ground wounded.

A rescue team was called, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
