It was the first time that Verónica Alexandra Pico Briones, approximately 35 years old, was going to drop her little daughter off at school when she was killed on her way home.

"She never went to school, the one who always made the transfer was another family member." Her crime occurred around 7:30 a.m., a few meters from the La Tejedora roundabout in the Montecristi canton.

In social networks, friends remember Veronica as a simple, respectful and hard-working person. Police confirmed that she had no criminal record.

According to the first investigations, the criminals shot at the car repeatedly, causing the death of its driver on the spot.

Veronica was married and the mother of two minors. She was a native of the Caza Lagarto sector of the Santa Ana canton, however, she was based in Manta, where she lived with her family.

One fact that has caught the attention of is that three images symbolizing death were found near the scene of the crime. Who left them and why did they leave them? This is something that the police are already investigating.
