A man drove off the road and hit his pregnant girlfriend with his car on Monday before fleeing the area, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Crystal Noordhuizen, 32, was walking along the shoulder of a road near Holiday north of Tampa Monday afternoon when troopers say Justin Colby, 33, drove his Dodge Charger into her, then crashed into a pole. He got out of the car, walked to his home and left on a motorcycle.

Pasco County sheriff's deputies arrested Colby late Monday. He's charged with attempted murder.

Noordhuizen, who is seven months pregnant, told authorities that she had gotten into an argument with Colby shortly before the incident. She was treated for minor injuries.
