It was said that the driver took 3 types of drugs before sitting behind the wheel. Along with this, he was in the vehicle with two other passengers prior to causing the accident. He was later sentenced to 9 years in prison for his negligent driving.

The journalist, Milen Tsvetkov, later died in an ambulance vehicle.
