Dash cam video from the Michigan State Police captured a fatal crash that occurred on U.S. Route 131 in Allegan County on April 15th, 2014. 29-year old Jeremy Smeltzer was driving his pickup on the wrong side of the highway when he crashed into 21-year old Jaryd Ford's vehicle. Ford died at the scene while Smeltzer was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The video shows the accident occurring just off camera as Smeltzer's truck passes by a state trooper, followed by more troopers who put out the fire caused by the crash. Authorities have not said why Smeltzer was driving the wrong lane, although they have performed toxicology tests.

This could've been avoided says the family of the victim.
