AUSTIN, Texas — Two weeks after a deadly shooting at a Rhode Island ice rink claimed two lives, another act of violence has struck as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne and two victims were killed early Sunday morning outside a popular beer garden in Austin's West Sixth Street entertainment district.

Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to reports of an active shooter at Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden at approximately 1:59 a.m. on March 1, 2026. Upon arrival, officers engaged and killed the suspect at a nearby intersection. According to Austin-Travis County EMS, 14 additional victims were transported to local hospitals, with three reported in critical condition.
