Local television station Raajje TV has published the CCTV footage of the attack on the television station, where masked men had broken into the station and set the station ablaze early Monday morning.

The station resumed their broadcast after a 10-hour disruption, at 12:40 p.m. on Monday afternoon. The video published by Raajje TV shows a group of six people entering the local TV station, located on the second floor of the Queen of the Night building in Boaduthakurufaanu Magu, Male’.

Armed with machetes and crowbars, the group is seen bashing the iron grill door that protected the main entrance of the station. Failing to break the padlock that secured the grill, the group is seen grabbing the grill and forcing it loose from the hinges.

The group then kicks-in the front entrance door, and hurriedly moves into the station. A camera positioned inside the station’s control room shows two members of the group pouring large bottles of petrol onto the broadcast operating equipment. One of the members set the station ablaze, soon after the group exits the station.
