A 27-year-old man, Hồ Đức Duy, was drinking at a friend's house when two young men arrived on a motorbike, stopped at the gate, and stormed the courtyard.

Hồ apparently recognized one of the men, 33-year-old Lê Quang Võ, who was armed with a knife, and grabbed a beer bottle before engaging in a tussle with him. However, Hồ was stabbed in the neck. The other individual, 31-year-old Trần Văn Lợi, armed with a shovel, rushed in and repeatedly kicked Hồ in the head.

Due to excessive blood loss, Hồ died within minutes. The two assailants fled the scene. However, a few hours later, Lê ended his life by jumping from a bridge into the river. Trần has been arrested.
