This was a nightclub fire which occurred in the Romanian capital in the previous decade. The nightclub was hosting a concert of the metalcore band “Goodbye to Gravity”, which used pyrotechnics that ignited the flammable material polyurethane acoustic foam. From all the 400 participants, 64 were killed and 164 were injured. Most of the victims were poisoned by toxins released from the burning foam. Consequently, the nightclub owners were arrested and got 11 years in prison. They were charged with negligence homicide, negligent bodily harm, negligent destruction. Huge nationwide protests were held against the corruption, which caused the prime minister to resign.
