The body-camera video shows the police officer pulling over 32-year-old Donovan Jelicich on 12th Street, north of state Route 89A, on April 12 just before 8 p.m. because he was driving without his headlights on and tailgating, police said.

“He’s going slow,” Jelicich said.

After the officer asked for his paperwork, the suspect gets out of the car.

“Stay in your car!” the officer shouts.

Jelicich disobeys and stands on the sidewalk, trying to get an insurance app to open.

“Sir, is there an issue? Because it seems like there’s an issue,” the officer said. “So what’s the issue? Why don’t you enlighten me?”

“There’s just too much going on in town,” Jelicich replied.

“What does that mean?” the officer asked.

That’s when the body-cam video shows Jelicich start punching the officer.

The dash-cam shows the fight that ensues, which goes off the sidewalk and into an embankment.

“Get away from me,” the officer said once Jelicich gets off of him.

The body-cam video shows Jelicich walking away and then the officer using a stun gun on him.

Jelicich goes to the ground but then gets up and charges toward the officer, starting another fight.

That’s when the officer shot Jelicic.

It’s too dark to see the shooting on either video.

The officer was taken to the hospital because of injuries to his head and eye, police said.

Jelicich died a few days later in the hospital.
