If you’re in trouble on China’s subways, don’t expect to get any help from good Samaritans. On August 9, a foreigner fainted in a Shanghai subway car. At first, he looked to just be leaning on the passenger sitting to his right, resting his head on her shoulder. But within seconds he fell to the ground as the train started to brake for the next station and lay splayed out on the floor. Instead of helping the man, five passengers sitting close by fled, causing the entire car to evacuate within 10 seconds.
