The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, December 13, in front of a popular nightclub in the Poblado sector of Ibagué , where six young people were run over by a driver who, according to preliminary reports, was under the influence of alcohol.

A video that was released through social media shows the exact moment in which the serious accident occurred, in which the driver ran over six young people who were at a bus stop. After the impact, the subject did not stop to help the injured and instead continued on his way to escape the scene.

However, he was unable to do so for long as he was intercepted shortly after on 60th Street, near the La Floresta neighborhood, by units of the Traffic Police .

The six young people who were run over were identified as Andrés Felipe Barragán Bermúdez, 28 years old; Cristian Eduardo Oviedo Montaña, also 28 years old; Guillermo Gallego Cabrera, 29 years old; Michelle Tatiana Lima Díaz, 23 years old; Erika Andrea Bautista Guayara, 20 years old; and Andrea Katherine Castro, 22 years old.

The injured were taken to various medical centres in the city, where some are in serious condition due to the extent of their injuries.

It was learned that the driver responsible for the accident was subjected to a breathalyzer test, which came out positive, confirming that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the events.
