Within the framework of internal military operations, the Ecuadorian Army, in coordination with the DINASED unit of the National Police, carried out an offensive reconnaissance operation in the canton of Naranjal, covering urban areas and nearby beach sectors, resulting in the capture of Ángel B., alias "Ángel," considered a medium-value target and alleged member of the Organized Crime Group "Los Lobos."The detainee had an arrest warrant for investigative purposes related to homicide. He is also identified as the alleged perpetrator and ringleader of the triple murder that occurred on January 9, 2026, at the "Bola 8" billiard hall in the same canton—an event that shocked residents and triggered heightened alert across Guayas Province.Alias "Ángel" was immediately transferred and placed at the disposal of the Office of the Attorney General (Fiscalía General del Estado) for the hearing to validate the arrest and the formal filing of charges for murder, criminal association, and related offenses. The investigation remains ongoing to determine his exact role in the triple crime and any possible links to other violent deaths in Naranjal and neighboring cantons. The Armed Forces and the National Police reaffirm their commitment to conducting joint operations aimed at dismantling criminal structures and strengthening public security in Guayas Province.
