Shots were fired by a Solon police officer at an armed suspect following the chase of a stolen vehicle on Thursday morning.

Solon police officials tell 3News that the incident began around 10:30 a.m. when officers attempted to pull over a Honda minivan that was allegedly taken during an aggravated robbery on April 4.

A chase happened after the vehicle took off traveling South on SOM Center Road, West on Arthur Road and North on Solon Boulevard. Eventually, the stolen car crashed into the rear of another vehicle on Solon Boulevard near Roxbury Elementary School.

Following the crash, the suspect got out of the stolen Honda with a loaded handgun. Police say that a Solon officer "fired more than once" toward the suspect, who was not struck.

Eventually, the suspect surrendered and was arrested. The driver and the passenger of the vehicle that was struck suffered minor injuries.

Roxbury Elementary School was placed into lockdown following the crash, but the lockdown has since been lifted.

At this time, Solon Boulevard between Arthur Road and Orchard Road is closed while the Ohio BCI assists on scene.
