A pilot and her husband were dragged out of their home and violently attacked by a revenge mob for allegedly abusing a 10-year-old girl they kept as a maid in India.

Poornima Bagchi, 33, and her partner Kaushik, 36, had allegedly employed the youngster as a housekeeper at their home in the Dwarka area of Delhi.

The girl is said to have been working with them for two months before furious relatives swarmed the couple's house, reportedly claiming the child had been left battered and bruised from abuse.

Chaotic footage from Wednesday shows the outraged mob confronting the pilot, who was in her uniform seemingly ready to leave for work.

Poornima tried to stop the mob from entering her property before she was hauled out of the garage by her hair, with Kaushik trying to pry her away from the baying crowd. The locals then proceeded to thrash the couple on the street.
