A woman has been arrested less than a month after a man was beaten in the drive-thru of a Memphis Dixie Queen. Shaquanda Jones, 21, was arrested on Sunday, March 24. Memphis Police said Jones was one of two people who were caught on camera beating up a man inside of a car in the drive-thru lane of a Dixie Queen on Mt. Moriah Road on March 1, 2024. A man who worked two jobs that day accidentally bumped the car in front of him while waiting in line, according to police. That's when MPD said Jones and a man got out of the car, opened the man's door and started demanding money. Jones claimed that she had a baby in the car that could have been hurt while a man with a gun demanded that the driver either give him money or Cash App him money, according to court records. Police said Jones hit the driver in the face and stole a jacket out of his car. Video of the assault released by police shows a woman reaching into the car, removing something, placing it on the hood of the car and then reaching back inside. The man she's with then moves her to the side before reaching into the driver's side door, apparently grabbing the driver and punching several times. Jones and the man she was with stole the driver's wallet, debit card, cash card, $50 and the driver's identification, according to court records. The man she was allegedly with at the time of the beating had not been booked into the Shelby County Jail system as of Monday morning. Jones was charged with aggravated robbery and attempted aggravated robbery.
