An operator of an energy company contractor died from electrocution this Wednesday afternoon while carrying out work on a pole located in the Las Américas neighborhood of Valledupar.

This was identified by the authorities as Fidel Antonio Ballesta, 31 years old, originally from Santa Marta and resident for several months in the capital of Caesarea.

The data establishes that he had only three days of joining said company and that in the middle of his duties he climbed the pole where he was manipulating the electrical networks.

It was learned that, in the middle of the procedure, he apparently made contact with a high-voltage wire that gave him a strong electric shock that caused his death instantly.

The incident caused commotion among his co-workers who tried to help him, but realized that he no longer had vital signs.

Despite this, using the baskets in which his friends worked, they managed to lower him to the pavement to where the members of the Criminalistics Unit of the Technical Investigation Corps of the Prosecutor's Office arrived to carry out the inspection of the body.
