FORT PIERCE, Fla. —

New video shows a St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Deputy shooting a man as he ran away on the North Causeway Bridge in Fort Pierce earlier this month.

The sheriff’s office has identified the man as Dylan De Reivera.

Investigators said a deputy initially encountered De Reivera on the bridge on Sept. 6. De Reivera had jumped the railing, and deputies said he was threatening to kill himself.

Sheriff Ken Mascara said the deputy tried to help the man, but he pulled a knife and ran away. The deputy chased the man and hit him twice with a taser, according to Mascara.

The new video begins in the moments after the deputy hit De Reivera with the taser.

But as the deputies get close, the video shows De Reivera starting to struggle before jumping up and running away.

Within his first few steps, a deputy shoots De Reivera in the buttocks. De Reivera can be seen continuing to run even as he places his hand over his wound.
