Tuesday 10th, a team of Divers from the Search and Rescue Group (GBS) of the Sergipe Military Fire Brigade (CBMSE) managed to locate the body of the man who had disappeared in the Dionísio de Araújo Machado Dam, located in the municipality of Lagarto, in the Center-South of Sergipe.

The victim, identified as 38-year-old Cosme Silva Gomes, had been missing since late Monday afternoon (9th). The man was at the dam with friends when he decided to dive into the water and was unable to return to the surface.

According to information given to the police, the victim had consumed alcohol and suffered from epilepsy. He was born in Aracaju and lived in the municipality of Salgado, in the southern region of the state.

In the first 10 days of 2023 alone, the State of Sergipe has already recorded three deaths from drowning.
