The Kenner Police Department is investigating after several businesses were damaged Tuesday when they say a 78-year-old man crashed his car.

According to police, the man was trying to park in front of Babin Physical Therapy for an appointment but sped forward.

He damaged a column in front of Babin Therapy. When he tried to back up, police say he jumped a curb and crashed into the Optical shop.

Police say they were able to stop the man once he tried to drive forward and leave the parking lot.

Robert Boover has owned the Optical Shop on West Esplanade in Kenner for 28 years. He thought today would be another day like any other, but he's shell shocked at this incident that's left his business in ruins.

"Looks like a bomb went off in the place but it was actually a little small car that destroyed the place," Boover said.
