After an armed confrontation, a security guard and an alleged assailant were killed in a failed robbery attempt inside a pharmacy located near the Toncontín airport in the capital of Honduras.

According to the National Police, the incident occurred after a man traveling in a cab entered the store shooting at the guard, who was seriously wounded and repelled the attack, mortally wounding the alleged assailant, thus thwarting the robbery.

"So far, according to what can be seen in the video of the pharmacy, only one (individual) was traveling in a cab that was parked in front of the pharmacy," said officer Mejia.

Both involved in the confrontation were seriously wounded and died immediately. The inert bodies of the two men were left lying inside the establishment selling medicines and other products.

So far the names of both victims of the violent act that has shocked the people who pass through the sector are unknown.

Police authorities stated that they will continue with the investigation to find out the motives behind the crime and whether the urban transport vehicle had a theft report or was owned by the alleged assailant.
