A parachutist crashed to death during a training jump in the Leningrad region, the North-Western Transport Prosecutor's Office reported on June 9.

The tragedy occurred on the territory of the North Wind landing site near the village of Putilovo on June 9. Previously, the man’s parachute system failed, and the reserve parachute opened too late.

“The Volkhovstroevsk Transport Prosecutor’s Office will check all the circumstances and the implementation of flight safety legislation ,” the supervisory authority said in a statement.

If there are grounds, appropriate measures will be taken.

Earlier, on June 7, a 32-year-old parachutist died in the Volgograd region. Due to a sharp gust of wind during the jump, the man was carried outside the airfield. He was seriously injured and died in hospital.
