Kendell Smith, a guard at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca, was relaxing at a house with another fellow.

A white Nissan AD Wagon stopped out front. Two occupants armed with firearms got out and opened fire on the two men. The gunmen returned to the vehicle and escaped.

Neighbors took both victims to hospital, where Smith was declared dead. The other victim is nursing gunshot wounds to his leg.

No motive, no suspects.
